- Toys for Tots is a Holiday Hit in Hobart!
PC3 Media students recently put their production skills to work while filming the Toys for Tots event held at the Hobart Art Theatre. A team of dedicated PC3 crew members captured video and audio from the event, gaining valuable hands-on experience in live event coverage while supporting a meaningful community cause. The event brought community members together to donate toys and support families in need during the holiday season. PC3 students documented the evening’s performances and atmosphere from some of Northwest Indiana's hottest acts including Grindstone, *69, LeAnn Stutler, Ashlyn, Sarah Archer, the Harrell Brothers, Nate Venturelli and more, helping to preserve and promote the impact of the event. Footage from the Toys for Tots event will be shared in the coming weeks on pc3media.com and PC3 Media’s social media channels. PC3 thanks everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this special community event.
- PC3 2nd Years Experience Classic Holiday Radio Theater in Chicago
PC3 students recently enjoyed a special trip to Chicago to attend It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at the American Blues Theatre, one of the city’s longest-running holiday traditions. The performance transported students back to 1944 as the beloved Frank Capra story was presented in the style of an old-time radio broadcast. The production featured live foley sound effects, vintage radio-style commercials, and classic characters that brought the story to life in a unique and engaging way. Students even enjoyed milk and cookies following the show, adding to the festive experience. In addition to the performance, students had the opportunity to speak with cast members, learning more about voice acting and sound design while sharing their favorite moments from the production. The experience provided a meaningful blend of holiday entertainment and hands-on learning connected to their studies. PC3 extends a sincere thank you to the American Blues Theatre for providing students with a memorable and educational holiday experience.
- Niles, MI High School Visits PC3 Classes!
Students from Niles High School in Niles, Michigan recently visited the Surf Internet Studios at the Porter County Career and Tech Center (PC3), gaining a firsthand look at the immersive, hands-on learning experiences available through PC3’s Career and Technical Education programs. During their visit, the Niles students toured the facilities, explored multiple CTE pathways, and engaged with PC3 students to exchange ideas and learn about daily life in the program. Highlights of the visit included observing a live interview with PC3 Principal Becich and a special seasonal appearance by “Nikko Claus,” giving the guests a fun and memorable behind-the-scenes broadcast experience. PC3 was excited to welcome the visiting students and their instructor, Mr. Cornelius, and appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with fellow educators and learners. The visit showcased the value of cross-school partnerships and real-world learning opportunities. PC3 looks forward to continuing this collaboration and welcoming Niles High School back for future visits. - Parlor Doughnuts Holiday Commercial Contest
The Porter County Career Center’s Radio/TV program is celebrating a sweet victory this season! Congratulations to Jackson Minder, Hailey Stalion, and Timothy Klimek, whose creative talents earned them the winning entry in the Parlor Doughnuts Holiday Commercial Contest. Throughout the month of November, PC3 students traveled to Parlor Doughnuts to film and produce original commercials showcasing the shop’s festive treats and warm holiday atmosphere. Three standout entries, all crafted by second-year PC3 students, were presented to Parlor customers—who had the opportunity to vote for their favorite. After an exciting round of community voting, Jackson, Hailey, and Timothy’s commercial rose to the top, earning well-deserved recognition for its creativity, production quality, and holiday spirit. - PC3 Students Capture the Magic of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Memorial Opera House
Our talented PC3 student crew was hard at work on Sunday, December 7th, filming the matinee performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the historic Memorial Opera House in downtown Valparaiso. From three different camera angles, our students did an incredible job capturing the whimsy, color, and pure imagination of Willy Wonka’s world. It was a fantastic experience for the crew and an equally fantastic show for the audience! - Vikings Power Past East Chicago in PC3 Basketball Broadcast Debut
The Valparaiso Vikings (1-0) opened their home schedule with a strong victory on December 5th, defeating the East Chicago Central Cardinals 78–65 in PC3’s first basketball broadcast of the season, also streamed live on the Heartland Sports Network. Valpo showcased balanced scoring throughout the night, led by standout guard Lavon Redmond, who poured in 18 points to pace the Vikings’ attack. East Chicago Central battled behind a big performance from Jamarie Pollard, whose 22 points kept the Cardinals within reach, but Valparaiso’s depth and defensive pressure proved decisive down the stretch. The Vikings controlled the tempo in the second half, closing out the game with a series of key stops and transition buckets to secure the double-digit win. Be sure to catch the replay below! This festive feature showcases a collection of creative, student-produced segments designed to celebrate the season and highlight the talent inside the studio. From lighthearted holiday games to food-focused features and heartfelt reflections on gratitude, PC3 students took the lead in writing, filming, and editing each piece. The result is a fun, spirited broadcast that captures the excitement of Thanksgiving while giving students a platform to show off their skills. Viewers are invited to tune in, support the students’ hard work, and kick off the holiday with a little PC3 flavor!

- Wolves Haunt Valpo in 35–7 Defeat
Halloween night may have been filled with ghosts and goblins, but for Valparaiso, the real nightmare came in the form of the Michigan City Wolves. Under the eerie Friday night lights of October 31, 2025, Michigan City unleashed a frightening ground attack, defeating Valpo 35–7 in the IHSAA 5A sectional playoff and bringing the Vikings’ season to a chilling end. Quarterback Trinaston Hart haunted Valpo’s defense all night, carving his way through the line for three rushing touchdowns. The Wolves’ offense proved monstrous on the ground, racking up a terrifying 339 rushing yards while keeping Valpo’s defense guessing like a trick gone wrong. By the final whistle, Michigan City had turned the field into their own haunted house—leaving Valpo to pack up their costumes and head home as the Wolves howled into the next round of the playoffs.
