The Steepwater Band Stops by WNRG Studios for Exclusive “Backstage” Interview
Chicago-based blues-rock favorites The Steepwater Band recently stopped by the Surf Internet Studios for a special interview with WNRG “Backstage” host Gianna Zikkos.
Founding members Jeff Massey (lead vocals and guitar) and Joe Winters (drums) joined Zikkos for a conversation about the band's current tour through Chicago and Northwest Indiana, favorite venues, the group's early beginnings and memorable stories from their years on the road.
Formed in Chicago in 1998, The Steepwater Band has spent nearly three decades building a loyal following with its signature blend of blues, classic rock and roots-driven rock 'n' roll. Known for electrifying live performances and gritty, guitar-driven music, the band has shared stages with legendary acts including the Doobie Brothers, Cheap Trick and Gov't Mule.
The group's extensive catalog includes albums such as Revelation Sunday, Clava, Shake Your Faith and Turn of the Wheel. The band is also preparing to release its latest studio album, Down & Divine, on November 6, 2026.
