PC3 Media 2nd Year Students Attend World Premiere of "Jimmy" at Heartland Film Festival

PC3 Media students experienced an unforgettable evening in Indianapolis on Thursday, October 8, attending the world premiere of Jimmy at the 35th Heartland Film Festival. The students walked the red carpet, saw the film’s stars in person, watched the premiere from the front row, and interviewed director Aaron Burns following the screening.

Starring KJ Apa, best known to the students for his role as Archie Andrews on Riverdale, Jimmy tells the remarkable story of legendary Hollywood actor Jimmy Stewart, including his service as a World War II combat pilot and the personal experiences that shaped his life and career.

The students were taken aback by Apa’s powerful performance, which revealed a different side of the familiar television star. Although many of the students were unfamiliar with Stewart’s legacy in Hollywood or his military service, the film quickly captured their attention with its emotional storytelling and compelling portrayal of the man behind the screen legend.

The premiere was selected as the opening-night event for Heartland Film’s 2026 festival, held at Indianapolis’ Scottish Rite Cathedral. The event brought together members of the cast and filmmaking team to celebrate Stewart’s extraordinary life and legacy.

Following the screening, the PC3 students had the opportunity to speak with director Aaron Burns, gaining valuable insight into the filmmaking process and the challenges of bringing a historical figure’s story to life.

For the aspiring broadcasters, journalists, and filmmakers, the experience was much more than a night at the movies. It was an opportunity to connect classroom learning with the professional film industry while discovering how powerful storytelling can introduce a new generation to an important piece of American history.

The evening left the students with lasting memories, a greater appreciation for Jimmy Stewart, and an unforgettable firsthand experience at a major film premiere. View The Photo Gallery Below!
