The Valparaiso Vikings' 2026 football season came to a close Friday night, October 30, as they welcomed the undefeated Penn Kingsmen to Viking Field for an IHSAA Class 6A Sectional matchup. Penn's explosive offense proved difficult to contain, as the Kingsmen secured a 41-14 victory to advance in the state tournament.

Penn jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead before Valparaiso answered with a touchdown in the second quarter. The Kingsmen carried a 21-7 advantage into halftime and extended their lead with 20 more points in the third quarter. Both defenses held firm in the fourth, leaving the final score at 41-14.

Penn quarterback Landon Hall led the way with an impressive performance, completing 22 of 30 passes for 320 yards and five touchdowns. Buddy Hurley hauled in nine receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown, while Chase Buckwheat added a 55-yard touchdown reception. Penn's defense also made an impact, as Noah Wallis returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown.

Valparaiso found some offensive highlights of its own. Cameron Smith rushed for 96 yards, including an explosive 64-yard run, and scored a touchdown. James Parisi also contributed 98 total yards and a touchdown for the Vikings.

Although the season ended sooner than hoped, PC3 Media was proud to bring viewers live coverage of the sectional contest and another season of Valparaiso football. Throughout the year, the student production team delivered professional-style broadcasts featuring knowledgeable commentators, sideline reports, exclusive interviews, special segments, behind-the-scenes social media content and multiple camera angles.

Friday night's final broadcast featured commentators Drew Snider, Nate Rackouski and Nathan Allred. Samantha Lustick served as director, with Leila Sawaya as game producer. The camera crew included Ivan Nunez, Andrew Meyer, Andrew Coyne and Brianna Yankauskas. Triston Lowe handled the scoreboard, while Angela Shear and Gianna Zikkos managed social media.

PC3 Media would like to thank all of its viewers, sponsors, supporters and student crew members for making another successful football season possible. The dedication and hard work of these students continue to bring Valparaiso athletics to homes throughout Northwest Indiana.

With football season officially in the books, PC3 Media now turns its attention to basketball. Join us Friday, December 11, as the Valparaiso Lady Vikings take on the Crown Point Lady Bulldogs.

Thank you for another great season, Viking Nation. We'll see you on the basketball court!
